Busy Memorial Day
It started out slowly, but then we went to lunch at a Mexican restaurant..delicious. From there we went to Baby's R Us and then Carters and Target and finally to Krogers for the week's groceries. Eva was a real trooper. She got lots of goodies and carter's including the shades that she had on in pictures Maggie emailed to everyone. She never let out a peep until the end of the Kroger shopping. We had been out almost 4 hours and she was hungry. Maggie and I took her to the car and Charlie went through the Kroger line. When we got home I made potato salad and we just chilled having hot dogs for dinner. We were all pooped and I retired around 9 and read for an hour before turning out my light. Charlie went back to work today. I have ironing to do and it's salad time here. Yesterday in the 90s and close to that today with humidity. I need to shower and get busy....later....

Memorial Day
All is peaceful here this morning. We were all tired and went to bed shortly after 9. I read for awhile and then slept until almost 7. It's 73 here this morning and will get into the 90s. I don't think anything is planned. I'll attack some of the ironing sometime today and other than that just relax. Eva continues to be amazing..sleeping and eating and just being cute. I'm the only one up and that includes the 2 dogs. Time for a shower and some reading outside....later....

Company Today
Grandpa Arbaugh is coming to meet Eva for the first time. Anne and kids will also be up and Jim will cook breakfast for all of us. It looks like it will be a beautiful day, though warmer than yesterday. I'm hoping to take Eva on another stroll. They have a park just 2 doors down from their house and it is a great place to walk. We went out yesterday afternoon for some yogurt at a place called Orange Leaf. If there is one of these in your area, I highly recommend it! Maggie looked on the net and found other locations. No parade in Point Marion!! I do so remember those parades and the cemetery on Decoration Day (That's what we called Memorial Day in my day). When I was in Kroger's Friday they were playing patriotic music. I feel like putting some on right now. Happy day to all....

Happy Birthday, Eva
She's one week old today and continues to be great! She's a great sleeper. She gained 7 ounces since leaving the hospital. Cullen and friend came last evening and will be going to a concert here in Columbus this evening. Jim is coming up tomorrow to see Eva and he will make breakfast for us. Anne and kids will be up around noon and stay for the day. I have a lasagna in the freezer which I made at home and brought up for just such occasion. I have no idea what we'll have to eat tonight, but I'm thinking we'll grill something. It was chilly and gloomy all day yesterday, but the sun is out today. Maybe I'll take Eva for a stroll in her stroller which she hasn't been in yet....later...

Holiday Weekend
It's a gloomy start to this weekend and only going to the 60s today although the weekend is supposed to be nice. Anne and kids will be here on Sunday for the day. Today Eva has her first Drs. appointment this morning and I'll be going to Kroger's. We had stir-fry last night and I'm making baked ziti tonight. Yesterday Charlie took us to J. Alexander's for lunch. Eva slept through the whole lunch. We watched "Too Big to Fail" last night...scarey! I need to head to the shower....

It's All About Eva
I can't help it...she is so good and so sweet. I anticipated a rough night last night because she slept most of the afternoon and evening with just short breaks to eat a bit. However, she was very good and is now sitting in her lamby seat just being sweet. Charlie got into cleaning the kitchen refrigerator yesterday and did a thorough job on that. I think he needs to go back to work so he can get some rest. Today I'll do some ironing and other than that, not sure. We did get rain and lots of it last night, but not much else. Max wanted to sleep with me last night so Charlie put him on my bed and he was fine. He just got up..he's a snooze hound.......later....

Life with Eva
Eva and Maggie came home yesterday shortly after noon. She was really good all day and when we had dinner Maggie and charlie put her in her swing and she just slept enjoyed the swing. She stayed there for a few hours. Later some friends came by and after that they got her ready for bed. I didn't hear her at all, but Maggie said she ate at 3 and then at 6 and she slept in her crib. It's supposed to be nice most of the day with showers maybe in the evening. I think Charlie is going to take her for a walk. I think I'll do some laundry and then plant the rest of Maggie's flowers. We had meat loaf potatoes and green beans for dinner and tonight I think I'll make chicken stir-fry. I'm hoping my hubby is remembering to water the new rose bush as well as the other plants and also dead-heading them!....later...

Homecoming Day
Maggie and Eva will be home today! I'm not sure what else will happen. Yesterday evening we went to the hospital before the storm hit. We had thunder and lightning but not much more. I guess there was some high wind in some areas, but we couldn't hear much in the hospital. The Kohl kids came by the hospital..Krysten, Eddie and Eric. It was really nice to see them. We got home just before 11 and I tried to watch Jon Stuart, but I fell asleep and didn't open my eyes until after 7 this morning. Yesterday afternoon Charlie tackled the refrigerator in the garage and gave it a thorough cleaning. It wasn't cooling well, but now seems fine. We'll reload it this morning and we may go grab some breakfast. I'll go to Kroger's while Charlie goes to pick up his family. I'm making meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight....later...

Meeting Eva....
Yesterday Anne and the kids came up to see Eva and we all went to the hospital. Kristyn also came over. Maggie is feeling well and doing well. She will come home tomorrow. Today Muir and Richard are leaving and I will spend the day cleaning up the house and doing some laundry. Yesterday was another pretty day, but we had some evening rain. It's raining here now..a nice day to sleep. I'll miss Muir and Richard but look forward to Maggie and Eva's homecoming. I can't wait to see how the dogs react to the new addition...later...

Where is She??
It is 6:45 and no Eva! We got to the hospital yesterday evening about 7 and stayed for 2 hours. When it was apparent that nothing was happening very quickly, we decided to come home and tend to the dogs. I did want to stay, but she didn't even have her epidural and was only 2 c. dialated. We came home and stayed up until midnight then went to bed. I woke up around 3 with still no word and started worrying. I finally went back to sleep, but got up before 6. I made coffee and let Max out and then played a few games. Zoe is now up and medicated and I'm about to shower. I am concerned thinking that she may have to have a C section. I'll post later when I know anything...later....

D-Day as in Delivery Day!
Charlie went to work this morning, but will get home about 11 and he and Maggie will head off to the hospital. I'll wait until things progress and I hear from Charlie before we head there as well. The hospital is only 10 minutes from their house. The dogs (especially Max) know that something is up. The sun finally showed up this morning and should be a nice day getting to the mid 70s. Tomorrow Trip and Susan will come up to see baby Eva and Muir will be here as well. Anne, Madison and Max will come up Sunday afternoon for their first meeting with the new addition to our family. I'll try to put a picture on at some point. I know Charlie will put a picture on facebook....later....

Two Days and Counting...
Today we will be getting ready to leave tomorrow morning. It's cold again, but a tiny bit warmer. I'll feed flowers and dead head this afternoon. Also fill feeders and the rest of what I have to do is inside stuff. It's supposed to be nice here tomorrow, but we're headed to Ohio and it's still going to be rainy there. I talked to Maggie this morning and she is very anxious...getting a pedicure this morning so she'll have pretty toes while she's in labor! I'll try to post while at Maggie's if I can figure out how to get to my site. I'm used to a mouse with my laptop..I can't do much otherwise....

Summer, Come Back!!
It just keeps getting colder and nastier. Only in the high 50s today! I'll be going to the library to return the books I have read and to renew the ones I haven't and also getting a CD to listen to in the car. After that I'll go to the gym and torture myself. Other than packing I think we're pretty well organized. R. stopped the mail and the paper until he returns and I sent a check to our lawn people for next week. I have things laid out..just not packed or put together. That will happen tomorrow. The final episode of The Good Wife tonight. We watched How to Train your Dragon on HBO the other night and liked it. Today, because of the weather, I just feel like curling up with a book...maybe that's just what I'll do....later....

Colder Yet....
A cold start today with more of the same tomorrow. Yeah! The Reds swept St. Louis!! I finished The Kitchen Daughter...excellent! I'll start a new book today and hope to finish it in the next 2 days so I can return it before I leave for columbus. I'll get a book to listen to on the way up. It's always a challenge to find a book that both R. and I will like. The laundry is done and waiting for me to start

What Happened to Summer?
Quite the chilly morning with no sun. They keep predicting rain, but we got none. Tomorrow we're supposed to have a high of 60. For brunch today I made crepes and stuffed them with scrambled eggs and bacon and topped with Hollandaise Sauce..yummy. I have potatoes boiling for potato salad for tonight and will make baked beans and grill Kielbasa. I was thinking it would make a nice summer meal and then it got cold. Chilli would have worked today. Talked to Maggie and Muir this morning..Anne yesterday. Maggie is making room for my clothes which I told her I would make do and not to bother, but she doesn't listen.

Blogger Problems
I figured when I had trouble and then Muir and Jerry didn't blog it must be that, so you are all forgiven. I also blogged one day but it didn't publish. Today it's fine now, but showers expected later. I'm not sure what we're doing...first the Farmer's Market and then we need to pick up milk. I told R. we had one downstairs in the other refrigerator, but we didn't so we need to get that. Maybe we'll have lunch out. I started another book..The Kitchen Daughter and I loved the one I just finished. Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls. The author is writing about her family mainly her mother and grandmother. It takes place on ranches and other places in Arizona and this grandmother did it all...tended the ranch, went to college, learned to fly, raised kids, broke horses, taught school...a must read and one of NYTimes 10 best books.

It's Not My Fault...
The blogger wasn't available this morning. I tried twice. Anyway, Maggie called after her appointment and they will induce her next Friday. We're planning to leave here on thursday unless something changes between now and then. She called before R. had left for the grocery store so he got things for the week. This morning I made a lot of food for the humming birds so they should be fine until I get back. The last two days have been very hot, but it's a bit cooler today. We may get some rain this afternoon which would be fine. We still haven't had to put on the a/c thanks to our ceiling fans in all of the rooms. I got the new cooking Light yesterday and there were lots of good-sounding recipes in it. Tonight I'm making a pasta/shrimp salad with a mayo/buttermilk dressing, sliced radishes and herbs. I'm not sure what the weekend will bring. I'll probably go to the Farmer's Market tomorrow to get some cucumbers. I was surprised that R. didn't pick up corn today at the store and we have home grown Grainger County tomatoes in now and he did get some of those....later....

A Scorcher Today
Yesterday was hot and today will be hotter. I baked an orange nut bread but put it in the toaster oven as I didn't want to turn on the big oven. It tested done, but after leaving it on the rack to cool I could see that part of one side wasn't done...damn. I'm putting it back it after it has been out for 30 minutes. I'll see what happens. Other than that I'm doing laundry and getting things ready for columbus. I'm hoping Maggie will convince her doctor tomorrow that she needs to have this baby NOW! We'll see how that goes. Other than that I have nothing...later....

Preparing....
After talking to Maggie yesterday afternoon I decided it was time to get things ready for going to Columbus. Last night I made a list of things I needed to do before leaving here..such as fill humming bird feeders, make more food for them, water plants, call Linda and alert her and ask her to water until R. gets back home. Today I'm cleaning house and starting to pack some things. I have many things laid out and I also have things to take to Muir and Anne since I know I'll see them when I'm up there. Last night I dreamed I got a call that Maggie was in labor, but it wasn't from Charlie. Dan made the call. It just goes to prove what is in the back of your mind. Weather wise a very nice morning..very breezy. Yesterday it was 89 and today in the 90s. It should cool down by the weekend. I need to get cracking...my dirty house is calling!....later...

Sorry I'm Late
I left the house around nine this morning and R. was on the computer when I left, so I had to wait to blog. First I went to the library. I usually go to the new book section to check that out and lo and behold I found 5 new books that sounded interesting. I've not read any of these authors, so it's a stab in the dark. I've already started one and it is good already. After the library I went to Krogers for several items and then to Walgreens to pick up a RX. After that I went to Lowe's and then to the car wash because I was embarassed about my car being so dirty. Then I ate lunch and went to the gym. Now I'm home and sitting on a wet chair. When I got home R. had just showered and was sitting on this chair with a towel beneath him, but it was obviously the one he had dried himself on. Oh well...it's really hot hear so I guess I don't much mind having a damp bottom.

Foggy!
Lots of fog this morning, but nice and sunny now. It's going to be a hot day and humidity is back. My Monday morning chores are mostly done. The laundry is done, but I still have a bit of folding to do. I made dinner for tonight..a polenta and black bean casserole. I make this once or twice a year and we really like it. The polenta is made with cheese and green onions added. It is put on the bottom of a baking dish and topped with a mixture of black beans, cheese and salsa and then another layer of the polenta mixture on top and baked until bubbly and golden on top. Delicious!!

Happy Mother's Day
Breakfast is over and we only got the Knoxville paper today. The same girl delivers our NY Times but we didn't get it today and that stinks. We called but have heard nothing yet. I did get a rose bush yesterday so will plant that today and just hang out. I got a steak out to grill tonight and will make wilted lettuce salad and a baked potato. I got the lettuce at the Farmer's Market. I've talked to Trip and Maggie this morning. I got a plant yesterday from Muir and Jim and it is beautiful. I meant to take a picture of it. I'll do that later. Anne called last night and posted pictures of Madison and friends as they got ready for their dance. Of course Madison outshone the other girls! It a pretty and sunny day here going up to 80.....later...

Spring Things to Do
First we're going to check and see if the Farmer's Market has opened. Then we need to go to Walmart for a few things and then to Lowe's. If I get some mint I'll plant that this afternoon and lay down some mulch in the front. Other than that I'll be hanging out, watching some golf and the Kentucky Derby and reading

Day at the Zoo
We got a later start than I had hoped, but it was way too cold to start earlier. When we got there all of the handicaps sports were taken so I dropped R. off and parked. It turned out to be a beautiful day with sun, but not too hot. I wore a jacket and kept it on the whole time. I think half of all school kids from the area were there. I forgot about how that happens in the spring. Also, I guess this rotten economy has really hurt the zoo. It looked a bit shabby and there were quite a few animals not there. I think they have had to loan many out to other places. They are building a large new area for the lions, but nothing is happening there. I guess it is also on hold. All in all we had a lovely day, but I was disappointed and hope things look up because our zoo has always been a lovely place. When we got home R. made margarittas and I made guacamole. We'll have the taco salad tonight. I'm thinking that our Farmer's Market opens tomorrow...I hope so! I love going there. If so I'll get some greens and I need to get mint. I got all of my other herbs, but forgot about mint. I'll plant it in a spot by itself. Kind of cool so far today with no sun out yet. We'll go to the gym after lunch....later....

37Freezing Degrees!
Brrr it's so cold here. I covered my herbs last night but nothing else. I think everything made it. I went to Walmart at 7 this morning to get stuff for tonight's Cinco de Maya. We will have margarittas and Guacamole with chips and a Taco Salad. Today we're headed to the zoo. R. is wearing shorts...crazy man! It should warm up to 67 this afternoon. I may convince him to put on sweats, but I doubt it. Nothing else of importance. I finished the Maeve Binchey book and am now reading a J.D. Robb book..Death by Treachery..very good! I love this series. I'll need to go to the library this weekend as I only got 2 books last time and I'll likely finish this one by Saturday. I need to get a load to take to Maggie's. I also have my Kindle and can always put a book on that....later....

Dinner and Annoying
It annoys me to no end when I write a long post and it doesn't go through and I can't find it. I'll try again. Dinner last night was supposed to be a Hana, an upscale sushi resturant..very zen and delicious. We had agreed on that but then R,jr. thought we were going to Wasabi, a typical Japanese grill type and that's where we ended up. We sat with a family with 3 kids. They were okay but they were kids and noisy. Our cook wasn't that personable and the place is noisy. The food was okay, but come on...enough rice to save the world from hunger! It was like a fast food restaurant with 3 star prices. The good thing is that we weren't paying..R,Jr. was treating. I hadn't been to one of these types of restaurant since my kids were small and we would go to Kabuki in Cincinnati...Now for today. I just made 2 meat loaves...one to stay here for R. when I am in Columbus and one to take to Columbus. Other than that it's cold here. I turned on the heat this morning. Nice tomorrow and we are going to the zoo. I can't wait. I'm crossing my fingers that this goes through because if it doesn't I'm not posting again!!.....

Bright and Sunny Now, but Wait.....
We're supposed to get rain today, but it is nice right now. Tonight it is going down to 42 and tomorrow night 39. I guess I'll cover my herbs again. Most of them do fine when it gets chilly, but basil definitely does not like the cold. Everything else should be fine. We're going to dinner tonight with Richard, Jr. Not much else going on. I'm going to the gym after lunch and I need to get gas..yuk! Nothing else going on except for the brithday boy...Happy 3rd brithday to J.J.!!! He called me this morning and I sang "Happy Birthday" to him and then he sang it back to me putting in his mommy's name

We Finally Got Him!!
I hope they also disposed of the people hiding him. R. has gone for his eye appointment and then to Walmart. I had a long list. Another nice day today before the rains come tomorrow. We were thinking of going to the zoo tomorrow, but we'll delay that until Thursday when good weather should return. I can't say enough for the new Maeve Binchey book...

Fun in the Sun
We were't sure what we were going to do yesterday, but we headed toward Townsent and ate lunch there and then decided to head up to the Park and see if anything was blooming. It was a lovely day with many people out, but not as crowded as it gets in the summer. It's too early for the mountain laurel, but everything looks so plush and with all of the rain we have had the many water falls were streaming down. I was surprised not to see any kyakers. We drove through Gatlinburg and then down the backway to home. Today it is nice, but not as sunny as yesterday. Brunch is over and most of the NY Times puzzle is completed with just a few more squares to figure out. My newest read is Minding Frankie by Maeve Binchey...I love her and this is no disappointment. I'll be glued to it for most of the afternoon. We're having Coquille St. Jacques for dinner with just a salad since it is pretty heavy......later....
