Off to Knoxville

Linda, Bev and I are going to lunch and then to see the Marigold Hotel movie.  It's finally here.  It will be another hot day before a change tomorrow.  Rain and much cooler expected tomorros.  We were planning to go to Knoxville to Market Square where Tim O'Brien and others will be preforming Bob Dylan songs throughout the evening.  Now a lot depends on the weather as to if we go or not.  We were planning to leave early and have a late lunch and walk around the square.  We'll see.  Nothing else to report.  We DVRd all of The Hatfield and McCoys so have that to watch sometime.  I watched Dogs in the City last night.  If dogs are involved I will watch....later...

A Sad Goodbye to Doc Watson

He  passed away yesterday at the age of 89.  We started going to Merle Fest in the early nineties and went for many years.  The first years were great as it wasn't that crowded as yet.  We quit going about 4 years ago when it got so crowded that it wasn't fun any more.  We always had fun camping and got several of our friends loving it as much as we did.  The festival was in N. Wilksboro NC at the community college there and was started in honor of Doc's son, Merle, who died in a tractor accident. 

Nice Memorial Day Weekend

We had a very nice weekend..mostly quiet, but had friends over Sunday for ribs and such.  Everything was delicious and the company was good also.  Baxter and Oscar also enjoyed gnawing on rib bones.  Baxter decided to spend the night and I'm thinking he just wanted to get in from the heat.  Yesterday we just hung around here all day and had leftovers for dinner last night.  Today we'll be going to Knoxville and to Sam's later on.  Nothing else going on..R. is going to take the car to have our low beam headlight put in and when he gets back we;go to town...later...

Memorial Day Weekend

The weather should be perfect, though a little too hot.  I ran out this morning to get gas which I paid $3.23 for and then picked up some ice for the cookout tomorrow.  When I got home I blew off the deck and cleaned the grill then made deviled eggs.  We have the fountain to clean and the deck to squirt off and this afternoon I'll put the rub on the ribs and wrap them up until tomorrow.  The rest of the day I plan to read and relax.  I already made the dressing for the wild rice and orzo salad and that will be put together tomorrow.  I hope everybody has a safe and fun holiday weekend.....later

Summer is Here

Maybe not officially, but the heat is with us.  I just finished making a loaf of banana nutbread to take to our new neighbor.  I've never met her, but we thought we should introduce ourselves.  I also made some more rub for the ribs I'll be doing on Sunday.  I had quite a bit left from last year, but wasn't sure it was enough.  Next I'm going to do a bit of weeding, put up a new flag and then I'll be entering receipts on the computer.  That is a tedious job.  R. just recently taught me how to do this and we are now sharing that chore.  Lunch yesterday was fun and after lunch we ended up at Linda's for tea and dessert.  Watched the Geography Bee last night on National Geographic channel.  Watching it drove home the fact that we are really stupid when it comes to geography.  These kids are amazing and I've never even heard of most of the places they talked about.  Of the 10 finalists, 2 were white Americans, 1 was Asian, and the rest were Indians from India.  ....later....a few more pictures from the weekend...

We're Back

Eva's first birthday weekend was great fun.  I have tons of pictures and will put some of them on now with more to come.  I'm going to lunch with Linda and Bev today for Bev's birthday. 

CharterDown

Our phones and computer were both down this morning, but back now.  R. has gone to a Drs. appointment and then to Walmart.  I am way off schedule this week...just got to the laundry today and just finished feeding the flowers.  It's a beautiful day and I could only hope to keep this weather for as long as possible.  I have to send out a huge congratulations to Madison.  Last night was her high school's award ceremony and she really didn't want to go, but, of course, did.  She got 3 awards...high honors, 4.0 averate and the French award.  Way to go, Madison!!...later...

Early Chores

I had several things to do this morning.  I started out at Walgreens to pick up some prescriptions and from there went to Kroger's and then Target.  After that it was to the chiropractor and then to the library.  I picked up several books and 3 cds to listen to on the way to Ohio.  I also got a tuna sandwich to bring home for lunch.  It was nearly lunchtime when I got home and R. and I shared the sandwich because it is huge and I can only eat 1/2.  Sonn it's off to the gym.  The weather here is perfect today and I hope this continues for several more days....later....

Back to the Gym

After playing hookey for awhile, we got back to the gym yesterday.  My workout wasn't bad as it was one of my easy days.  Today will be more of a challenge since it's my weights day.  Other than that..it didn't rain all day yesterday and, in fact, it stopped in mid-morning and stayed dry the rest of the day.  Some showers may turn up today, but mostly dry and nice weather for several days.  I'm hoping it will stay nice while we are in Ohio and at Trip's.  We'll leave here on Saturday and return sometime next week..probably Tuesday or Wednesday....later....

Rain, Rain, Rain

It rained all day yesterday, all night and pouring buckets again today and supposed to last through tomorrow.  I've been lazy this morning but did put together a meatloaf for dinner tonight.  I'll put my flower pictures on from my kids...nothing more to report....

Mother's Day

It's raining, but I really don't mind it at all.  We need it for the flowers and also to wash away any lasting mud on our driveway.  I got 2 beautiful bouquets of my favorite flowers...tulips and iris and calls for all of my children.  Our dinner last night at Ruth's Chris was outstanding!  I had a petite filet, but it definitely was not petite.  I brought half of it home.  R. had the stuffed chicken breast and he brought half of his home also.  We shared a salad and vegetable and we actually should have shared the whole meal.  We were both stuffed.  My filet was "melt-in-your-mouth delicious and done perfectly.  In case you haven't been to that restaurant I highly recommend it, but it is quite pricey.  Our meals came to $92 and I had 1 glass of wine, but R. did not.  I was going to make a meatloaf tonight, but we will have our leftovers from last night and I'll make the meatloaf tomorrow.  I'm still working on getting my stuff back on the computer.  I have my blogs set except for Jerry.  I need your blog address, Jerry, so I can put it on.  I took pictures of my flowers, but R. didn't put them on.  I'll get him to do that before tomorrow....later....

Finally!

We finally got the computer back!  I really missed her and hated out other one.  R. has been busy putting the pictures and everything else back on.  This weekend has been busy putting things back together after the construction process.  It is mostly done.  I have a few more things to put together in my cedar closer.  We would be so much better off if R. could only part with his several boxes of 8 tracks and the boxes of casette tapes to say nothing of the record.  They hold no nostalgia for me and I would dump them all in oa second without a moment's thought.  I guess it's the Eva and Zeke in me.  After a few perfect weather days, it is gloomy today with rain expected soon.  We're going out to dinner tonight at Ruth's Crisp Steak house.  We were supposed to go on our anniversary, but something came up so we'll finally get there.  I got a lovely bouquet of pink tulips and purple Irises yesterday from Anne and the kids...I love them!!..later...

Very Busy

The work is finished on the house and it looks great!  They finished Wednesday and yesterday we put the basement back together.  I'm currently working on my cedar closet which they also redid.  Unfortunately they put everything back in it and I now have to go through and rearrange and get rid of things.  It will take a day or so.  This coming week should be good with us getting back to a more normal routine.  We'll be going to Cincinnati and Columbus this weekend.  I think we'll leave Saturday and go to Trip and Susan's and watch J.J. play soccer and then drive to Columbus on Sunday for Eva's first birthday and likely come home on Monday.  It will be a fast weekend, but can't leave for too long.  I'm hoping the laptop will be back this week and that is another excuse for not posting regularly....later....

Good News!

The news was good from the neurosurgeon.  The tiny blip on R's pitutiary is really not of any concern and surgery is definitely not indicated.  We were, to say the least, happy about that.  After that we went to Sam's and then to Rafferty's for lunch.  We didn't want to stay away from the house for too long because of all the work going on here.  Today they have been at it all day and still going.  I'm pretty confident that this should be done by the end of the week....I'm late posting today because I hate to be on this computer and it is in the den where they are also working on the closet...later....

Crazy Old Computer

Sorry I didn't blog Saturday.  I did on Friday and put pictures on, but this computer has an old Windows program and it didn't allow me to publish them.  Today we're off to Knoxville.  R. has his appointment this morning with the neurosurgeon and then we're off to Sam's and lunch.  No rain this morning so I'm hoping lots of work gets done today before rain moves in tomorrow.  They should finish the wall today and I don't know what else.  I can't wait for all of this mess to be finished and cleaned up.!!!!!!!...later...

Lots of Progress

I'm amazed at how much got done yesterday.  Most of the basement wall was done and they were back this morning.  I didn't expect to see them on a Saturday, but they were here bright and early.  Now they are finishing up the foundation and some of them have started on the wall.  They'll be back Monday.  R. negotiated to get them to paint the wall and put the closet back together.

It Just Gets Worse!

Yesterday we found out that there is additional work to be done.  Just what we needed to hear.  The total cost of all this work is going to be $28,000. give or take a few hundred.  We woke up this morning to rain, but it is gone now.  I'm out of here in a few minutes to get a haircut and do a few other chores.  I just might drive off into the great beyond to avoid all the ****going on around here.  Oh, well...we'll have a whole new foundation when it's all finished...later....

OMG!

I took pictures yesterday of the demolition of our wall, foundation, etc.  I'll have R. put them on the blog when he gets a chance.  These guys are really good and I can't wait to see the end of it all.  Today is going to be crazy.  There will be dump trucks going in and out a back hoe , ... They will build the new wall tomorrow.  They are moving pretty quickly because there are so many of them.  R and I are getting out of here.  He has an appointment and then we'll go to lunch and I need to get to the library.  Used our A/C last night...the bedroom one only.  Not quite as hot today.  A very happy birthday to J.J. who is 4 years old today.  We sang to him this morning.  They are taking him to the Red's game this afternoon and that is definitely one of his favorite things!....later...

Much Better

I'm feeling much better!  After heat and massage in the morning I feel almost back to my old self.  It is still stiff and sore this morning, but not that bad and I know it will improve as the day goes on.  I'm doing laundry..finally and will make healthy muffins later and prepare raw vegetables for snacks later on.  They guys will be here soon to start work on our foundation.  R. got all of the junk in the basement moved without any help from me.  When all of this is finished we need to weed out a lot of junk!!  It's going to be almost 90 today.  We haven't needed our AC yet thanks to ceiling fans...later...

Incapicated!

I did something stupid on Friday.  I was clearing out the van after our camping trip, had both my hands full, so didn't hold on while jumping down and half fell against the door of the van.  I killed my back and it just got worse.  I could barely get up and down on Saturday and sunday, but started doing better yesterday.  I feel improved today, also.  Richard has been great..waiting on me hand and foot.  We were supposed to start clearing the stuff on our basement shelves on the weekend in preparation for work which will start tomorrow on our foundation.  R. is doing that alone and I feel guilty.  I loved seeing the pictures of Baby Eva and her drunken walking....later....
