Stormy Monday

It's just warm and windy here right now but we are under a tornado watch and a lot of rain and wind is expected throughout the day. Laundry is finished, but not folded so that is next. Loved the Oscars and the outcomes suited me just fine. I was surprised that I was able to stay up for the whole thing. I was fine with the 2 hosts although they got a lot of negative reviews. I'll go to the gym this afternoon unless the weather tells me otherwise....later....

Strange Day

Quite warm today and it started out sunny, but all of a sudden a clap of thunder followed by a bit of rain. It's already 70. I need to go to the library and stop at Auto Zone to get new windshield wipers. One of them is shot and we're expecting a lot of rain in the next few days. Yesterday we went to Knife Works and I got a pan for corn sticks which I have wanted for a while, but couldn't find them anywhere else. I got a few other gadgets. I could have spent tons on kitchen gadgets (one of my downfalls). I made a meatloaf yesterday and we also had asparagus with cheese sauce. We'll be eating on the meatloaf for a few more days. When that's gone I'll be doing scallops with pasta. Oscars tonight and I'm so rooting for Colin Firth for the King's Speech against the crazy Social Network guy. I heard him interviewed yesterday on NPR. He seems like a nice guy and he'll have plenty of other chances..he's young. I'm also rooting for Natalie Portman. .....later....

Lazy Saturday

It's nice to have a Saturday with nothing going on. Actually, we're going to drive up to Sieverville to Knife Works. I want to get a corn stick pan and then just look around. This store has a little of everything and the kitchen part is great. Other than that, not much. I made a meat loaf this morning for tonight and baked an orange nut bread. Linda may come for dinner. Not much else going on. It's cold this morning, but getting up in the 60s. It was cold enough last night for a fire so we had that and watched Flying Alaska....later....

I Hate Waiting

Yesterday I had a dentist appointment. I got there 10 minutes early and then proceeded to wait for 40 minutes. At that point I got up and said, "I've reached my limit. I'm out of here." and..I left. This is a new dentist. I loved my old one, but last year state retirees were offered dental insurance and a low cost and I had to change. I've only been here once and yesterday was my second time. I really don't mind waiting a reasonable time, but this was above what I consider reasonable...and...they weren't busy! I haven't called back because they aren't in on Fridays, but I'll call Monday. Anyway, today I was up before 6 and cleaned everything except the vacuuming which R. will do shortly. I guess we had quite a hard rain with winds, thunder, etc. last night. I slept through it all. This morning it is on and off cloudy, but warm. However, it is supposed to start getting cooler with 30s tonight. Not much else to report. I need to shower and then settle down for a bit of reading before lunch and after lunch..the gym...later...

In a Rush

I have a dentist appointment this morning and need to scoot out of here in a minute. Nothing to report anyway. From there I'll stop at Walmart to get a prescription and a gift for Linda's new grandbaby who arrived yesterday...Grace Anne weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz. raining here this morning...later...

Finally Getting Things Together

Yesterday I finally got my dressing room back in shape and then tackled the utility room. The downstairs den needs serious work so hope to get to that next week. This morning I ran to the lab to get blood work done for my yearly appointment next week. Got home by 8, made coffee and started to work on tonight's dinner..shrimp lo mein. I chopped and grated and got it ready to just cook tonight. Now I need to finish the laundry and then debone the rest of the chicken we have been eating on for the past 2 nights. It's back to the gym this afternoon...just so you know, Richard and I both passed the neurological test which Muir sent, and even though we tend to be a bit forgetful now and then, it's nothing too serious!! On my part the spelling in the paragraph looked much like what my students turned in to me on a daily basis....later....

It's Finished!

...and I love it!! I'll post pictures, but it is such a small room it's hard to get the idea. I took pictures of the floor, wall, cabinets, etc. Hope you get the idea. Chilly today with some rain last night. I'm trying to get things back together. I have pictures, baskets, old shower curtains, etc that I need to get rid of or do something with. I'm trying to clean things up today and doing some laundry which I didn't do on Monday.

Busy Day

I left at 7 for Walmart and grocery shopping. I also got some things for my bathroom, but couldn't find a shower curtain there. Then I tried Lowe's with no success. I should have gone to Target first because I found just what I wanted there. Now I need to get busy around here. I have jello to make and meringue cookies and who knows what else. Asparagus is cheap now, so we'll have that with out chicken for dinner. The men are busy in my bathroom. I can't wait for it all to be done and for me to put things away. I practiced quite a bit yesterday..I'm really rusty. I do need to find a piano tuner and have no idea what the going rate is now. Jerry, do you know what that might be. Since I have no idea, I don't just want to take the first one I call....later...

I Need My House Back

I can barely get into my dressing room. Everything from the bathroom is in there plus some things we bought yesterday. I still haven't found a shower curtain. We went to Bed Bath and Beyond yesterday and I got rugs and a white louvered chest but no shower curtain. We went to Home Goods and they really had nothing. Tomorrow I'll do grocery shopping in the morning and then see what Target has. If I don't find anything there I'll go to the mall and stop at Penny's. I brought up a lot of music and need to organize that and shelve it. I'm going to need a new light for the piano, but I'm in no hurry about that. I just want to get things cleaned up and put away. It's a bit chilly this morning...in the 40s but supposed to warm up....for Muir...The Elm Street Quilters has a new book coming out tomorrow. ....later...

One More Day

A lot was accomplished yesterday, but one more day until all is finished. The beadboard is up and the trim is up. The floor is tiled and grouted and the fanlight is installed. The front door of the house is painted red and they moved my piano from downstairs in the den to the front foyer. Today we're going to Knoxville to Sam's, Bed bath and Beyond and Home Goods to get things for the bathroom. I'll be so glad when I can get everything together and organized. I also need to go through all of my music and bring it up. Anne just called and accused me of child abuse to her when she was 8 months old. Maggie has some old letters I wrote and was reading that I threw a toy to her and it gave her a black eye. What can I say? Things happen....later....

A Crappy Day in Nashville

First, we started out and were down the road when R. remembered he hadn't taken his morning meds. To me that is like forgetting to pee in the morning, but maybe that's just me! The ride down was uneventful. We had gotten Google directions which have always served us well...not this time. They had us going from 40 to 65 to exit 209. There was no such exit on 65, so we stopped and asked directions. It turns out that exit was off 40. Richard got all bent out of shape and when I told him to calm down and quit being negative he screamed at me. Then I shut up for the rest of the day. We found the place and then went to Trader Joe's. I was starving and as we were in the store I could see that we would be cutting it short to get lunch and make his appointment. I suggested we eat around there, but he wanted to go near the college. I figured parking would be tough and it would be busy around Vanderbilt. It was and we ended up getting a sandwich at Wendy's. Then to his appointment where, thankfully, I had my book so sat and read for an hour and a half. When he got finished we drove home getting here at 6:45. That was my crappy day. David isn't here yet and he has a lot to finish today. It was 61 when I got up this morning. I hope this day turns into something good!....later.....

Heading to Nashville

If R. can get himself together. We were going to leave at 8, but then realized that they are an hour behind us, so no rush. We will go to Trader Joe's first and then have lunch before his appointment. We'll head home as soon as he is finished. On the bathroom....the tile is down, but not grouted. All of the sheet rock is in place and tomorrow will be a big painting day...the sheetrock and all of the trim, etc. After that I'll need to shop for accessories so will likely go to Knoxville on Saturday. I can't wait to have my bathroom back. I took my shower upstairs this morning, but used Richard's bathroom to brush my teeth and just let me say...it is disgusting. He is in charge of cleaning it and I think it's been a while. I need to take charge, but hate to do that. I would rather just ignore it....later....

Bathroom Redo Day

David should be here any minute. I'm hoping to get away for awhile sometime today and go to the library. I finished A Dog's Purpose yesterday. I had it on my Kindle. I really liked it but did shed a bunch of tears. All dog lovers should read it! Other than that I think I'll clean out my refrigerator today from top to bottom. Another nice day here...close to 70. Tomorrow we go to Nashville for the day....later.....

Bathroom Delay

David isn't coming today. He was on a job yesterday and she added some extras that she wanted done. He'll be here tomorrow and then finish on Friday. When I got home from the gym yesterday my Honey had bought me tulips and a valentine cup with cinnamon candies in it. Dinner was very nice and we watched the Westminister Dog Show and then Harry's Law. Today I'm hoping that the leaf guys come and I have to stop by the library....later....

Happpy Valentine's Day to All

I've been busy this morning..first of all I made 2 appetizers for tonight...Parmesan twists and stuffed mushrooms. I'll be having sweet chili marinated salmon with snow peas and pea tendrils for dinner and espresso panna cotta for dessert. That's my valentine's gift to my hubby. The laundry is washed and dried, but not yet folded and then I'll shower and start unloading my bathroom. Yesterday we got everything we needed for the redo. After we got home, Jim and Tommie called to see if we wanted to ride with them to their lake house. We did and it was beautiful on the lake. Jim had to pick up a tree trimmer. While there he threw in a line, but no bites. Another nice day today. I may walk outside instead of getting on the treadmill...later....

Big Week

David will be here bright and early on Tuesday to start my bathroom. He'll have it finished by Wednesday afternoon. Also, the leaf guys are finally going to be able to do our leaves as the weather is finally cooperating. Yesterday it was near 50 and today near 60. Today we're going to Lowe's to get the rest of the stuff for the bathroom and David will also paint our front door. We're going with red this time. I'm hoping to get to Home Goods maybe on Thursday to complete things for my bathroom and Friday we go to Nashville for R's MRI. Tomorrow morning I'll need to unload my bathroom. I don't know what we'll do with my old mirror and light bar. Maybe David will want it. He rehabs a lot of houses, etc.....later...

My Bathroom

We're finally making a move on redoing my bathroom. David is coming over this morning and I'll tell him what I want done and we'll see when he can start. After that we may go to Lowe's to get the other things we'll need. I'm still not totally sure about a few things. Every time I think I know exactly what I want done, Richard has other ideas and then I get confused. A nice day today..still cold, but sunny and getting warmer. .....later....

It's Boring February!

Not much going on..it's cold and dreary. R. feeling better each day and I'm fine. I'll do some house cleaning today and read..isn't that exciting. Made the pot roast last night and it was delicious. We'll have that again tonight and watch some tv programs I DVR'd while we were away. R. busy on the computer yesterday toting up all we spent on vacation. Today he'll do the taxes. I'm glad he does that chore. I'll gladly do all of the housework rather than deal with financial issues....later....

Improving

We're both feeling better..I more than Richard. His congestion is breaking up, but still has a sore throat. I just have a classic cold. We're cancelling our trip to Nashville for tomorrow. It would be crazy to go down there when we feel poorly. It snowed last night..we got about 1/2 inch and it is mighty cold this morning. I want to move to Florida. It was so nice being warm every day. We say we couldn't stand the summer heat down there, but Tennessee is just as hot and humid. It's supposed to warm up and get near 60 in the coming week...bring it on! I made a delicious chicken noodle soup last night..just what we needed and I'll be doing a pot roast today which will feed us for several days. It's all about comfort food. Not much else going on around here....later.. The ship in this picture was docked right next to us in Cozemel..a Norwegian Line. The other 2 pictures are the restaurant on the beach where I had a delicious shrimp meal and Richard had Grouper..freshly caught that day....Adios...

Now I Have the Bug

The pictures today are Jamaica, Cayman Island and Cozomel and the Mayan ruins as well as the tequilla factory where we all got a free Margarita and shots of tequilla. More tomorrow.....

I'm not as bad as R. He saw the doctor yesterday and he got 2 shots and antibiotics to take for 10 days. He's feeling better already as the congestion is breaking up. I have a cold and nasty cough. I'm about to go to Walmart. I wouldn't go today, but we're supposed to get snow this evening and we need a few things. I'll put some more pictures of the cruise on....later....

Back to Cold Weather

Here is my first set of pictures..starting in Ft. Lauderdale and the Everglades where this gator came right up to our airboat next to Richard. Other pictures are around Floriday. Then we are on the boat and our first stop is at Key West where we rented that little electric car. We loved Key West. The sunset is as we were leaving Key West. I took lots of sunset pictures but this is the first and the last. The following day we cruised all day and I took pictures of Cuba which I will post tomorrow as well as our stop in Jamaica...later....

We had a wonderful time..great ship, great people and sunshine every day. We got back to port on Sunday, but R. had caught a bug..bronchitis on Friday evening so we went to the motel and he slept all afternoon, evening and night. He did watch on and off the super Bowl. He wanted the Steelers to win, but I had my way. I watched and was happy. On Monday we hung out at the beach all day until time for our plane. One more day of beautiful sunshine. We had a wonderful lunch right on the beach..the best salad I ever ate...crab, lobster and shrimp in a creamy dressing over greens...fabulous!! We got home last evening about 8:30. Today I have been unpacking and doing tons of laundry. R. has an appointment at the Drs. I'll post pictures...I took lots and lots. I'll download a bunch today and then more this week. Happy Birthday to Jim and Joel!!
