Rainy Day

I had my mammogram yesterday afternoon and then came home to start dinner. I made a creamy asparagus and had a delicious multu-grain bread which was delicious! Richard loved the meal. When I tasted the soup it lacked something so I added a generous shot of sherry and that did it. It was delicious if I to say! Today Richard gets a shot in his eyeball so I'll drop him off and run a few errands. I have no earthly idea what to make for dinner so hope I soon get inspired! Dishwasher is running so as soon as it stops I'll jump in the shower.....later

Great Sleep!!

I never have a sleep problem but usually get 6 hours waking up about 5ish. Today I first opened my eyes at 6:35! No sure what that was about but am happy.  So yesterday on my way to the gym I was happily surprised to see the beautiful trees in bloom and also forsythia. Dogwoods not in bud yet and that's good. Last year our last frost was on April 10th which is normal. We have all of March to get through and that is usually an iffy month. Today its 35 here but climbing to mid sixties. Yesterday was rainy and cold but sun appearing around 3. Mhy yearly mammogram is at 1 today. Nothing else today. Watched the finale of Victoria😢. Little Women coming in May! Love PBS!!....later

Quiet Weekend

It was still mild but cooler than the past week and some rain. I did get the beds weeded and cleaned up and also cleaned up my herb planter. I currently have parsley and thyme all by their selves and waiting for the others to come along when frost danger is past. We watched The Hateful Eight on Friday night but wish we hadn't! There was nothing on except Olympics and we were over them. ...It's raining pretty hard here this morning but sunshine coming around noon. I'll head to the gym after lunch and the rest if the week will be busy......later

Friday Plans

I'll head to Walmart this morning while Richard heads to his retinologist. This afternoon my helper girls will be here and I'm planning for them to start clearing my flower beds and also cleaning the deck. I want to do some trimming of rose bush and some shrubs. They were supposed to come tomorrow but we're fdue to get lots of rain. I'm not sure how long this weather will last but as far as they're predicting at least through all of next week. We watched no Olympics last night instead went to netflex. I am happy that the U.S. has done better!!.....later

Catching Up

The Olympics have played havoc on our regular TV watching. Richard is over the Olympics so we watched Victoria which I had dvr'd. Victoria and Albert were in Scotland and it made me realize that I still had not traveled there and it seems unlikely I'll finally get there dashing my long desire!😢 Not that we watched but U.S. women beat Canada in hockey last night!!....We broke our former record yesterday when we hit 80. I'm really not complaining but hope when trees and such are in full bloom we won't get a hard freeze!!......later

Students on the Move

So happy to see students from all over the country taking a stand and not backing down. I hope they won't back down because they will meet opposition on many fronts. Students from Knoxville are heading to Tallahassee to confront the Florida legislature and joining students from Florida!!....we're seeing rain today. I guess we had rain overnight but I heard nothing even though we had our bedroom outside door open. Richard keeps saying spring is here and I keep saying we'll be seeing cold weather returning at some point. I'll be heading to the gym later but if it isn't raining when I head out I'll walk outside instead.....later

Spring Weather😊

Spring usually comes early in East Tennessee with many warm days in February. Yesterday we saw daffodils blooming and my tulips and daffodils are sporting buds and the grass is greening up. I love it!! Yesterday it was 72 and 79 expected today. Whiskers was right by the screen door on the deck until I closed the big door t 10:30 last night. As soon as I opened it this morning she was there. We also recently just had what I thing is a possum invading our deck and going after the birdseed and suet. Yesterday one of the feeders was on the floor and the suet ead gone. Last night I took it does and away....We saw Lady Bird yesterday and I really liked it but Richard not as much. We have a few more we want to see so I told him he could choose. We have so many things to catch up on now that Olympic watching is taking over. That being said, we're both over watching all of the qualifying games and just want to get to the finals.....Richard is feeling better by the day on all counts. I guess that old valve was taking it's toll on everything and everything is coming back!!😊😊......later

No Heat

I woke up to a chilly house. Not sure if we're out of oil or if it's the thermostat. Thermostat registers low battery so hoping its the problem. Fortunately, it's 50 with 70s expected today. I'm not wanting to take my shower and jumping out to a cold bathroom!.Richard isn't awake yet so will wait for him to figure it out. We were planning to go to a movie and lunch but will see what transpires....As much as I looked forward to Olympics, I'm now looking forward to the end. .......later

Spring Weather!

I opened the doors yesterday much to the delight of my kitty. She loved the breeze tickling her whiskers and sat in front of one of the doors for most if the day. Today is supposed to be rainy and cooler. My helper girls came up and filled the bird feeders, replenished the wood pile and cleaned out the fireplace. Tabatha told us where her parents were born and I got the atlas out and we saw where they were born and heard about how they got to this country. I asked if they were citizens and happy that they are. They had quite the adventures getting here! Richard has appointment with opthamoligist today and I'll drive him since his eyes will be dialated and can't see to drive after that. Maybe lunch after appointment..... Later

Another School Shooting!

It's becoming a normal occurrence and no matter how much school systems prepare for this when someone plans it, tragedies occur. It's just so sad!!...warm but rainy here today..72 expected and warm temps expected for the next week. It is normal here to have many warm days in February with a cold few days thrown in here and there. This is the south and I can't say I don't love having an early spring! I have an 11 o' clock appointment and need to get gas plus a few other things.....later

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I came out to the great room to find flowers (tulips), my favorite, a bbag with mini York mints, white chocolate and a really pretty shirt along with a sweet card from my sweetie! I can't figure out when he got these! His card is waiting for him when he comes out.The rest of his. Goodies will come with dinner. Rain coming in again today after a nice day yesterday. Tomorrow I have an appointment to see my doctor. I finally decided to see her because I can't get rid of this cough. Several years ago I had a similar cough and it turned out to be bhroncitis so that's why I finally made the decision. .....later

Much to Watch

I'm keeping my DVR busy! Yesterday at 5 we watched last week's Victoria and we still have this past Sunday's to watch. We watched Olympics last night until 10 when we both turned in but I dvr'd Wesminister which well try to watch today with more Olympics. ...I was surprised how chilly it was yesterday when I went to gym. We had lots of rain over weekend and dreary yesterday. I welcomed our fire last night. Not much going on today but warmer and 70s expected tomorrow. We got a sweet call from Eva yesterday. Valentine package arrived to her and I assume JJ also got his. My grandmother always sent me a valentine card signed with a ?, and also a dollar bill and my dad got mother a blouse and a box of Whitman's candy every year.....later

Lots of Olympics!

Also lots of rain but yesterday was also very warm. It made me know that we'll be having warmer days ahead. It was a soup weekend for us since soup is really the only thing that taste good for Richard. We had two types of chicken soup and also potato soup. Today I'll make chili. I've really been enjoying Olympic watching!Nothing much else but Westminster Dog Show starts tonight. We always watch that!!....later

Olympics!

I always look forward to watching some great events when Olympics time rolls around. We watched some skating last night and will watch some this weekend. Also Pebble Beach golf this weekend which is always fun. Today will be nice with temps in 50s before we get hit with lots of rain. Yesterday Richard and I headed out in different directions...he to Walmart and I to Knoxville. I went to Public to get Limon Clamato juice which makes delicious bloddy Mary's!! We discovered it last year when Walmart had it but now Public is the only sore carrying it. From there I went to Target, The Fresh Market, Bed, Bath and Beyond and then Bank of America to get cash. At home I made delicious chicken soups...chicken, one with noodles and rice, the other with chicken and gnocchi. Richard loved it so we'll have that again tonight which makes me happy..no Friday cooking. Later I'll head to gym and a stop at Post Office to mail packages to the two youngest grand babies for Valentine's Day. The older kids just get a card.....later

Birthday Wishes for Joel and Jimmy!!

Son and son-in-law born on this day in different years...have a great day!!...Yesterday Richard's appointment went well! He first got an echo and after that sae the doctor who told us new valve is working like a dream!! Richard is already feeling so much better and doctor said he should continue to feel even better!..Rainy all day yesterday with more predicted for the next several days...warm but rainy. Excited for start of Olympics!...I have two chicken carcasses cooking away in the slow cooker. I put it on before I went to bed. I'll be making two different chicken soups, one with chicken which Richard took off the bone and cooked with gnocchi and the other with noodles and veggies. Soups and salads are all Richard can eat that tastes good. Parts of each soup will go to freezer.....later

Lots of Rain

I'll be fighting the heavy rain as we go to UT for Richard's follow up appointment after his heart surgery. He's feeling good so everything should go well! For a reason we can't pinpoint Richard's taste buds are totally out of whack to the point that he can eat sweets or soups but no meats or just about anything else. I'll do Chili tonight. He's talked to drs. and pharmacist and they can't figure it out....I guess north of us will be getting sleet or in Maggie's case snow. Looks like Eva will not be happy today. She is the odd child who doesn't like snow days as she loves school!!.....later

Bad to Good

Yesterday morning I spent 1 1/2 hours on the phone with Amazon Help trying to get My FB account resolved. I was at my wit's end but he did find an alternate solution. Then I had to make some appointments for Richard and there were conflicts there but finally got those resolved. In the midst of this I was doing laundry and then needed to make yearly appointments for me and got that done. I hadn't had time for anything to eat..just coffee and it was time for lunch. I got my lunch and was eating that when Richard decided to fix one of the kitchen drawers but couldn't see well enough to to that and needed my help. At this point I just wanted to get out of all of this chaos! I got my gum bag and escaped to the gym. When I got back home all was calm and we had a nice evening. I'm hoping today will go well. We have nothing pressing but tomorrow Richard has his 30 day follow up appointment at UT with his cardiologist and we're supposed to get torrential rains but at least it's not snow. For now I'm about to get my second cup of coffee, shower and do a few chores around here....later

This and That

Even though I'm a Patriot fan, I was rooting for The Eagles and they definitely outplayed the Patriots so I'm happy. ..Lots of schools around here are closed for sickness and allowing these schools to get properly cleaned...Nothing going on here this week but I'll head to the gym this afternoon. I also need to stop at the library. I got a book by an author I had never read when I was there last week (Susan Macneal) and loved the book so will look for more by her...In other news..once again I'm off Facebook and when I try to get back on it won't allow me. I'll call today but it's a BIG pain in the Ass!.....latet

No Weather Delays

Snow was predicted but we got nothing. Schools are closed in this county and I'm assuming it's because this county extends into the mountains. Richard has an appointment at 11:45 so I'll take him and take my book and read while I wait for him. I stopped by the library last week and picked up The Paris Spy by Susan Macneal, whom I had never read but will look for other books by her. She has written several and has received an Edgar as well as other rewards. Of course we'll we watching The Super Bowl and while we both like Brady and the Patriots, we will be rooting for the Eagles!.......later

Rain/Snow?

It's a mild morning but rain due this afternoon and changing to snow this evening. Looks like snow for sure in mountains but a toosup here. I'm hoping for no snow. Richard has appointment tomorrow with cardiologist. Today I'll head to Walmart in a few hours. I was going to pick up a few items while there but Richard kept adding to my list.. Damn! I got on him about his salt intake last night and finally threw my hands up and told him it was his funeral!! He goes ballistic on me when I say anything! I get my coffee at Sam's but had been out so had tried other brands and not liking them. I got my favorite when we went to Sam's and what a difference! Loving my coffee this morning😀😀.....later
