Update

It's looking slightly better that R. will be able to come to Ohio with me.  Richard is being discharged from the hospital today and R. will try to get him to drive and if that goes okay he will come with me.  He really needs to get away from all of this so I'm hoping all goes well.  Very cold again with snow flurries expected.  Hoping weather and roads to Ohio will be clear.  Not much else going on...later...

Red Carpet...Oscars

No real surprises at the Oscars except for best supporting male.  I was rooting for Tommy lee Jones or Robert DiNero.  I loved the red carpet and thought the dresses were amazing.  I really didn't see any I really hated and I started writing down the ones I thought were winners.  I had a list of 12 and could have had more..I ran out of paper.  My absolute best was Charleze Theron but there were many others I also loved....not much to report...later....

Richard in Hospital

R. took him yesterday because he was unable to cath.  Turns out they admitted him and not really sure what the diagnosis is.  It looks more and more like I will be going to Ohio by myself.  I really wish R. could go and get away from all of this but it is what it is.  We're thankful that John is willing to help out with Richard.  A nice and sunny day here.  I am looking forward to the Oscars tonight since we have seen most of the movies....later....

Nothing New Here

R. is still dealing with Richard stuff.  Now Richard doesn't want to get in his car and see if he can manage that and John doesn't have a licence due to a past DUI so they are stranded.  R. told Richard yesterday that he wasn't going to be at his beck and call.  He was over there all morning and then again in the afternoon.  I made baked Ziti this morning and made a dish for them and one for us.  I'll send it over when R. goes.  Nothing else going on.  R. has been on the phone all morning with Richard stuff....later....

Tough Two Days

We got Richard home, but it was a very stressful day!  He had tons of stuff which I unpacked, folder, threw away and tried to find a place for.  The worst part of all of this is that he is not able to make easy transfers.  He told us he could, but that was not a fact.  He cannot transfer over to his toilet because he can't lift himself up enough to get over the wheeel of his chair.  This is odd, because he does get over the wheel getting into his bed and onto his shower chair.  The fact is that he should not have been discharger.  Fortunately (I hope) his friend John is now living with him and helping with his care.  Today R. went over to help him and Richard didn't get up until 12 and John gave him breakfast in bed.  I'm not sure what we're going to do.  He had home health yesterday and tomorrow the physical and occupational therapists are coming to assess things.  I'm hoping they will have some suggestions.  We're slated to go to Cincy next weekend and I'm not sure if R. is going to feel comfortable leaving here.  If not, I'll go alone...nothing else going on, thank goodness.  I'm worried about R.  This is really hard on him physically and emotionally....later...

New Addition to the Family

Maggie, Charlie and Eva have a new pup named Buster.  He is a Bull Dog like Max.  Maggie said it was too lonely and quiet in their house so they got this 9 week old pup.  I can't wait to meet him in person.  Still quite cold here, but better than yesterday and it is sunny.  Regular Monday here with laundry.  R. is going to put together a piece of furniture for Richard and then we're going to Publix for a few things....later....

Relaxing

I don't plan to do much of anything today.  After the past week and yesterday cleaning house here I need to rest and gear myself up for another week of stuff to be done at Richard's.  R. picked up a piece of furniture which he will have to assemble tomorrow and I'll get his bed made, etc.  I'm not sure when he'll get home but hope that happens soon and that we can have our life back..kind of.  Jim and Tommie picked up our new upstairs mattress and took the old one.  I made a pot roast and we just talked.  We want to go someplace sometime in May and we're thinking of St. Pete or Lauderdale.  April is out for all of us and we want to see Eva at her birthday time and maybe make it a dual celebration for Eva and J.J. although his is earlier in May.  Cold here today!!...later...

Updates

Sorry not to have blogged, but we've been working on Richard's house and when I get home all I want to do is sit and do nothing.  Yesterday I finished up what I intend to do and Molly Maids came and did a fantastic job cleaning everything in sight.  His spare bedroom has become a dumping ground for everything I don't know what to do with.  We still have to get 2 pices of furniture for his bedroom, but we know what we're getting and will do that this weekend and then R. has to put it together.  Richard's discharge has likely been delayed because he has a bladder infection and maybe the flu along with it as he is throwing up.  I'm hoping today to just clean up around here.  I've started the great room and need to finish that and then do the kitchen.  I'm also washing the linens that R. got for Richard....later....

Happy Valentine's Day

My honey got me tulips a few days ago so I could enjoy them all week and this morning I had a card, a cup with a cute monkey inside.  He's getting a lobster and scallop dinner tonight.  They delivered Richard's bed around noon, so we went over and while they did that I did some cleaning out in his bathroom of junk he had.  He definitely has the Blosser hoarder gene and also fails to throw away empties of everything.  I also got both of his closets in order (not that it will stay that way).  He has 10 pairs of black pants...  The cleaning service is coming tomorrow and while they are there I'll have R. go to pick up sheets and towels, etc.  I'm hoping to get him home on Tuesday, but not before.  We also have to restock his kitchen..he has no food.  I can't tell you how glad I will be when this is all over!!!

Tons to Do

Yesterday we got a rug for Richard's room as well as some storage pieces.  We also got a new mattress for out spare bedroom and looked at some furniture pieces that Richard will need for his bedroom.  When we got home there was a message from Kindred that they want to discharge Richard in a few days..that is impossible because the guy getting his bed hasn't called us.  We called him this morning and he thinks he can get it today.  We need to take his car in and when it is serviced R. has to take him to the house to make sure he can manage everything and take him out in the car to see if he can manage that as well.  I am going to get his laundry and bring it here to wash.  Then I need to take care of his closets.  I called a cleaning service and am waiting for a call back from them.  I'm hoping we can finalize everything this week so we can finally relax.  That seems like a tall order and if I am realistic I need to acknowledge that it will take longer.....later....

Remembering Max

He died yesterday after a short illness, so he didn't suffer anything long.  Muir was with him since Maggie and Charlie are still in the Dominican.  I hope the happy and sweet memories will sustain them and that they will soon be able to got a new doggie to sweeten up their lives.  Max was a wonderful dog.  My first meeting him was in Pasadena where he delighted in chewing on lemons from their lemon tree.  He also loved his stuffed animal toys.  When anyone came to visit he made them feel welcome by sleeping with them.  He was quite a snuggler.  Have fun in doggie heaven with Zoey and C.C.
  I'll try to post a few pictures from last week at OBX.  Some are movies....later....For some reason I can't get them up and I have other things to do..I'll try tomorrow.....

Home Again

We got home about 5ish yesterday..not a bad drive at all.  Today I'm unpacking and all of the fun that goes with that.  The next few weeks will be busy getting Richard's house in readiness for his going home...much to do.  The weather in OBX was chilly but sunny and bright until Friday when it poured starting on Thursday night and lasting until noon.  We just drove down the beach road, had breakfast and then came home to hang out and pack for going home on Saturday.  I'll have R. post some pictures..some of them or movies of Billy playing the mandolin and his Uke.  It was a fun time..love OBX and wish it wasn't so long of a drive for us..10 hours which counts a stop for gas and one for a quick lunch.  We had planned to stay overnight on the way down,  we weren't tired and we wanted to get there.  Our stay at the resort was a Saturday to Saturday.  I called and asked if we could pay to stay on Friday night and they said, yes..at no cost.  Perfect...later...

Fun With Hayden

It was great to see Hayden!  We first went for lunch at a Mexican restaurant and then he showed us all around Newport News.  It is really a pretty place.  He showed us where he jogs and then we went on campus and were impressed by CNU.  It just got a #3 rating behind UVA and one other from the Princeton press that rates colleges.  He also took us to his suite which turned out to be a typical 4 boy suite...very messy.  It was so nice to see him and know what a nice school he goes to.  He really loves it and is glad to be there.  He is a great kid!!On the way back we detoured to Corolla to see where they stay when they come down in the summer...very nice, but too far out.  I awoke this morning to driving rain.  I'm not sure when it started, but it is supposed to be with us all day.  I hope it's gone by tomorrow morning when we leave.  When R. wakes up we'll go out for breakfast and then hang back here all day.  I'll start packing this afternoon....later....

Newport News Today

We're going to see Hayden today.  We'll meet up with him after his class and take him to lunch.  Yesterday we went to the beach and I walked a bit and R. sat. After that we drove to Duck and went into some shops on the boardwalk.  We stopped at bought some shrimp to steam for dinner and then had lunch at our place..grilled cheese and tomato soup.  I think we'll have breakfast out at Jolly Rogers tomorrow and then walk on the beach if its nice and come back to get packing.  We want to get an early start on Saturday....later....

Too Much Partying

Our friends came for breakfast yesterday and then left for home.  We drove up to Manteo in the afternoon and stopped at a few places.  ..Sunsations where I got 3 tee shirts and then to Kitchen Connections where I picked up a few things.  After the drive we just hung out.  We were both tired last night and went to bed at 10.  R. was snoring so rather than deal with it I went to the other bedroom.  Not sure what today will bring.  I think it's supposed to be in the 50s today.  TTFN

Good Game...Bad Outcome

Our team didn't win but it turned out to be a good game.  I was disappointed in the commercials.  The Doritos one was good with the goats and the horses and the wolf also good.  I always like the baby ads but the rest were, in my opinion, stupid.  We had fun and good food.  This morning our friends are coming over here for breakfast before they leave for home.  Not sure what the rest of the day will be for us.  It's sunny and I think we have a warm up taking place....later....

Super Bowl Sunday

Yesterday was fun.  We had a yummy lunch at the Jolly Roger and then drove down to Avon.  We couldn't believe all of the damage from Sandy.  Also we learned that the ferry to Ocracoke isn't running due to what the hurricane caused.  We came back, dropped Billy off and came to our place.  They came over about 6 and we noshed all evening and Billy played his mandolin and his Uke.  We sang along and told him to bring it back for the party today.  We're going to meet them for breakfast soon and will get together here for the festivities.  I have shrimp, egg rolls and will be making pork tenderloin sliders..a Giada recipe.  Go Forty Niners!!  I have on my Bengals shirt wishing they were playing....later....

Outer Banks

We're here!  We went all the way instead of stopping and got here at 7.  No problem with the roads.  There was some snow and ice on I 40 on the way to Ashville, but it was in the far left lane and gave us no problems.  It was an easy drive, if long.  Billy and Penny met us at our resort and helped us unload all of our stuff and then we hung out and caught up and had a few drinks.  This morning we went to the store and are waiting for our friends to come and we'll go to Jolly Roger for lunch.  Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.....later....
