Getting Out...I Hope

I'll be leaving soon and hope my car starts.  It's still at the bottom of our  street.  I have several errands to run.  Schools here are still closed due to secondary roads not being cleared.  The library just opened today after being closed since Tuesday.  I would like to know the source of the animosity between Warren Sapp and Michael Strayhan..I'm thinking it must be personal and not football related.  Looking forward to Sunday.  Jim and Tommie will be over...later....

Still Snowed In

I was going to go out today, but the little bit of thawing that did occur yesterday froze again last night.  It was 5 when I got up and hasn't gone much higher, but the sun is out.  Our electricity went out for about 5 minutes and then on and then off again.  Heavy usage today, so will wait for awhile to reset the clocks.  It is supposed to get above freezing this afternoon and up in the 50s tomorrow so I'll definitely make it out then.  So, so tired of this winter.  I'll do so house cleaning today....later....

Interesting Tuesday

We left yesterday morning just as the snow started.  The plan was for me to drop R. off at the Drs and then I would go to Kroger's and the library.  The roads were okay when we left.  When I got to Kroger's the parking lot was totally snow-covered and much worse as I left.  I decided not to go to the library and just go and wait for R.  He was forever in the Drs. office and had a Rx to have filled before going home.  We did that and left for home...R. driving.  The roads weren't too bad, but when we got to our street it was totally covered and we didn't make it up that hill.  We headed back to Maryville (don't ask me why) and talked about what to do.  I knew I could walk up the hill to the house, but knew R. couldnd't so I called 911.  They told me to call again as I got near our street.  I did and they told me they would get there but didn't know how long it would take as they had tons of emergencies.  I left R. in the car with my phone and I walked to the house..no big deal.  I decided to call the police so did that and they said they would be there asap.  I called R. to tell him someone would be there but they were already there as I was talking to him.  He had a 4-wheel drive and zipped right up the hill and up our driveway.  R. didn't have long to wait at all.  Our car is down at the bottom of our street and will remain there for awhile because it's 8 here this morning and only getting to about 20 so snow isn't going anywhere.  It is pretty here.  In Maggie news..They had to spend the night in Philly last night, but caught a 7:25 plane out this morning and it wasn't delayed.  Maggie said Eva was a "Rock Star" through all of this....later.....

Snow Expected

We're actually supposed to get snow today, but not sure how much.  Much of the south is getting slammed.  Maggie and family supposed to fly home today and their flight to Charlotte was cancelled, but they changed it to Philly so should get home close to time originally planned.  We were going to take Richard's car to Phoenix Conversion today for hopeful sale, but will postpone that.  R. has a Drs. appointment this morning and I'll drive him and then stop at the library and grocery store.  His appointment yesterday was moved to today.  Cold here, as usual.  Delicious crepes with shrimp filling last night and a salad I can't get enough of..spinach/strawberries/avocado/bacon/walnuts with a poppy seed dressing...Yum...later.....

Nice Sunday

Change of plans yesterday.  Instead of eating out and a movie, we went to Jim and Tommie's and Jim fixed a delicious brunch and then we watched Captain Phillips.  It was good..we all liked it.  We left there around 3, stopped at Krogers and then home.  It was a pleasant evening in front of the fire.  Today R. has a Drs. appointment and I'm just doing stuff around here..laundry and such.  It's still mild this morning, but turning cold as the day goes on with 15 expected tomorrow a.m.  What can I say?  Maggie and company get home tomorrow.  From what I hear about Columbus weather, they will be most unhappy and coming home to an unshovelled driveway...later....

Hibernating Saturday

Cold and windy so we'll be staying in all day.  I got up and had coffee, pancakes and an egg and watched The Taste which I had dvrd.  I played a few games on my Kindle and then read a bit of my book which I hope to read more of this afternoon and maybe finish.  It's a new Anne Perry book.  I really like her.  She writes mysteries in the Victorian English era and hasn't had a new one in a while, but this one popped up in the new book section when I went to the library and it doesn't disappoint.  Tomorrow we will venture out to go to brunch at First Watch with jim and Tommie and then see Gravity.  This is a bad tv night but we have the last Klondike to watch and will have another cozy fire.....later....

Enough Already!

This is the south...how about some warmth!  It was 6 here this morning.  I know up north it was much worse, but I've enough.  I have a massage scheduled for this morning so I have to leave my house, but if I didn't have that I wouldn't leave for anything.  We've been watching Klondike.  We still have the last part to watch and will likely do that on Saturday when nothing else is on.  Captain Phillips and Blue Jasmine are now on Demand for anyone who wants to see them but not in the theater.  We saw Blue Jasmine and it was very good.  We didn't go to the movies yesterday.  We finished everything we had to do and the movie wasn't on for almost an hour.  I didn't want to kill time for that long so we came home.  I'm off soon to battle the cold...later....

Knoxville

I guess we should just live there, but I love Maryville.  R. has a follow-up appointment for his hearing aids and while there we'll check off another movie and lunch.  We'll see Saving Mr. Banks today.  R. isn't really hot to see it, but I saw Her for him so he can bite the bullet for me.  Not sure where we'll eat lunch.  So what's up with Justin Bieber?  He's turning into a train wreck and The Captain and Tennile..I don't get it.  After 39 years of marriage calling it quits?  Go figure.  Cold again here but not as bad as yesterday.  At least we have no snow.  I am SO ready for spring.  We usually go to Florida sometime in Jan or Feb, but this year we're going to NY City in February.  What's wrong with us?  Keep warm....later....

Super Cold!!

It was 7 when I left this morning to have breakfast with Chuck.  I know it's much colder other places, but it took my car a long time to warm up.  I hate wearing a coat, but I wore one this morning, also a scarf and gloves.  As always, it was good to catch up with Chuck at our once-a-year breakfast.  Got a tag for Baxter at Pet Smart after that and really dread going out this afternoon to go to the gym.  This is the south..not supposed to be this cold!!We've been watching Klondike.  Finished part 1 last night and will watch 2 tonight and dvr the last part.....later.....

Cold Expected

I got out and back before the temp dropped much.  I left to get a haircut and am back.  Making crepes for dinner with a chicken/mushroom filling and a spinach/avocado/strawberry/bacon salad with poppy seed dressing.  R. is currently in the kitchen making banana nut bread.  It will be almost lunch time when he is finished and then I can get started.  Maggie, Charlie, Eva and friends are on their way to the Dominican.  Hoping no issues with travel...later....

My Teams Won

Loved the Broncos game.  I didn't really watch the next one and watched Downton Abbey instead, but glad of the results.  It's going to be near 60 here today before another blast of frigid air tomorrow.  I need to get a haircut and will venture out tomorrow morning to do that even though I wish I could just stay inside all day.  Talked to Maggie this morning.  They leave for warmer climes early tomorrow morning.  Nothing much going on...to the gym this afternoon...later...

Go Broncos!!!

I really hope the Broncos pull this off today, but I am worried.  I want Seattle to win the second game because I don't think they'll do well in New Jersey.  Saw Blue Jasmine yesterday and really liked it.  I know some of my readers aren't fans of Woody Allen but I like almost all of his stuff.  I think we'll see saving Mr. Banks when we go to Knoxville on Thursday.  Busy week..brunch with Chuck on Wednesday, Knoxville on Thursday and massage on Friday, probably brunch and a movie with Jim and Tommie on Sunday.  Baxter woke us up at 3 to go out and then out again at 6 when I got up, drinking lots and lots of water and didn't eat this morning.  I'm thinking he may have gotten in to something when we got home yesterday.  He was out for quite a while and drank a lot of water last night.  He seems okay now but still hasn't eaten.  Pot Roast for dinner....later....

Another Movie Day

We're going to Knoxville to see Blue Jasmine.  It was here in the fall, but we couldn't make it then because of R's surgery and it left, but is back now.  Not sure where we'll eat but we have lots of choices.  Caught up on some DVR programs last night and had a wonderful fire.  We didn't get a load of wood this summer because Ken didn't cut any, but hope we can get 3 ricks this summer.  We only have enough wood left now for about 3 more fires.  I want to save one for Super Bowl Sunday.  Very cold here this morning with some snow possible tonight.  I said goodbye to our holiday dishes for another year.  Just put them away.  I like the feel of them and hated to put they away.  Time to shower....later.....

Good Movie!

We really both enjoyed Inside Llewyn Davis.  Folk Music was big when I was in college and all through the 60s.  I'm surprised this movie got no mention in any category for an Oscar.  In other news of yesterday, Richard got hearing aids and let me just say, it was a pleasure to watch television last night without having to have the tv blasting.  We had another good lunch at Longhorn Steak House.  If anyone of you ever goes there, they have something you join with no obligation and they email you free deals frequently.  Yesterday we got one lunch at half price, but he actually gave us both lunches at half price.  The last time we went we got a free appetizer.  They have a really nice menu...cold here today with snow a possibility, but not much for us.  Some around us got a bit during the night.  We have nothing....later....

Back to Knoxville

R. has an appointment this morning with the hearing specialist.  I'll drop him off and go to Pet Smart to get shampoo and a tag for Baxter.  After the appointment we'll lunch and then see a movie.  It's really cold here this morning..in the 20s.  I am so over winter and it has really just begun.  This time last year we were in sunny Florida while the weather up here was cold and snowy.  That's it for today...

Her

The movie, that is.  For me, it was a total waste of time and it got to be so very boring.  I would have walked out had I been alone, but R. loved it.  This guy was married for several years but recently divorced and was lonely so he hooked up with an OS.  They connected right away and he fell in love with her.  HOw can a normal (I use that word loosly) guy fall for a computer.  You can't go places , hold hands, have real sex.....It was plain stupid!!! R. didn't get his hearing test but has an appointment tomorrow so we will go back and then another movie and lunch.  I stocked up on stuff at Sam's and now I have a loaded freezer.  It was really warm yesterday..got to 54, but today is another story.  Very cold with a dusting of snow.  To the gym this afternoon....later

Off To Knoxville

Sam's first stop.  R. is going to finally get a hearing aid and what they offer seems good.  I know so many people have problems with their h/a and I hope that won't be the case here.  We will also see a movie and have lunch while we're in town.  It's raining now but is supposed to leave soon and be sunny this afternoon.  I think we'll see Her, but there are 2 others that we want to see and around the same time so who knows?  I called Amazon yesterday and am getting around better on my Kindle.  Currently reading 2 books on my 2 kindles.  The Lincoln Lawyer new one and I don't remember the name on the other, but it is good...later.....

Go Broncos

I'll start worrying about next week's game with the Patriots.  Very happy about yesterday's results but got a bit worried in the second half.  Today it's chilly with rain coming in this afternoon and evening.  R. is about to head out to do a few chores.  I'm finished with the laundry except for putting my stuff away.  To the gym this afternoon.  We plan on a movie, lunch and Sam's tomorrow...later.....

Yea for Sunday

I love Sundays.  Brunch is over but I'm still in my pjs.  The puzzle is mostly done.  R. is working on the last few answers.  We  had contemplated going to see Her, but decided to stay in and watch football.  We have so many movies to see I was trying to get one out of the way today.  We do plan to go to Knoxville on Tuesday, go to Sam's, have lunch and a movie.  Meat loaf, mashed potatoes and a brussel sprout casserole that I got at Trader Joes for dinner.  Much tv to watch.  We'll watch the Broncos and hope they can pull this out, watch the red carpet, Downton Abbey, DVR the Good Wife and the new show on HBO is on tonight, but they replay that during the week so we'll pick it up then.  We were listening to Fresh Air and it got an excellent review.That's it for me.  I need to shower and dress....later....

Rainy Saturday

It was supposed to start raining around noon today but instead it started to rain last night and rained all night and just stopped a bit ago.  We also had a few claps of thunder. Started washing all of my bedding this morning..almost finished so I can remake the bed.  R. has been fiddling with my Kindle.  He did get some of the aps off that I don't want.  I'm going to call Amazon for help with the rest of it.  I'm making sloppy joes for dinner.  I haven't had them in ages and when I was at the store it just sounded good.  Had a delicious fire last night...brie with apples, veggies and bread was our snack/dinner.  later.....

Kindle Fire Frustrations

I'm having issues with my Kindle Fire.  Too many tabs pop message pops up so I can't get to some of the things I want.  I don't know how to get them off.  I've emailed Amazon for Tech help but it hasn't helped at this point.  I really need to talk to someone in person and have them show me the ins and outs.  Woke up to rain this morning and Baxter said, "NO" to going out.  It stopped and he has gone out.  The snow is gone and it is going up to 50 today with lots more rain tomorrow.  We'll be at the gym this afternoon.  Nothing else going on...later....

I'm Off

I'll be leaving soon for all of my errands and ending at my dental appointment.  It was really good to get back to the gym yesterday although the tread mill in the room where I work out were all busy.  Usually I am the only one in there.  It's January and I know things will slack off soon.  No one was in the pool except us and 2 kids.  Supposed to get to mid forties today..finally.  Snow should be gone by tomorrow just in time for more rain.  The cover for my Kindle Fire came yesterday and it is really snazzy.  Time to head out...later....

Downton Abbey

We finaly watched it last night and we weren't disappointed!  We didn't watch Sunday but DVRd it.  We watched The Good Wife then and Monday we watched the football game.  This morning R. has his last (we hope) appointment to get a shot in his eye.  This afternoon we are FINALLY getting back to the gym.  It's cold again this morning..12 when I got up but is going to 40 this afternoon.  Tomorrow morning I have a dentist appointment and I need to go to the library.  That's all for today....

Disappointing Finish

It was a great game until the bitter end.  I was SO pissed!  It was really, really cold yesterday.  I dropped R. off at his appointment and then went to Kroger's.  When I walked back to my car I thought my hands would drop off they were so cold.  It's even colder this morning..2 when I got up.  Tomorrow it's going into the 30s with even warmer by the weekend, but, alas, more rain.  Today's big chore is totally cleaning out my refrigerator.  I'll remove everything, clean all of the shelves and get rid of some things.  Seems like I just did this not long ago.  Other than that just stay warm...later...

I Need to be Way South

This is ridiculous!  We got very little snow but it was 60 yesterday with lots or rain in the evening.  Now is about 20 here and going down and down and as it goes down the water on the roads is freezing.  R. has a Drs. appointment this afternoon and I'm not sure we should be on the road.  Now as for the pathetic Bengals..I was so disappointed and felt bad for the loyal fans.  I'm sure Trip wishes he hadn't gone.  They played with no vigor...Andy Dalton played his worst game of the season.  Oh well...I dressed for the day..long johns, sweats, long sleeved T shirt and sweat shirt...I think I'm okay...

Warmer Today

The warmer weather today will give us the chance to take down the outside Christmas stuff.  Rain, snow and frigid temps to follow.  R. has a Dr. app. tomorrow afternoon that he needs to keep because is blood pressure has been high and that needs to be dealt with.  Yesterday was fun..after our electricity came back on we were able to get ready to go to lunch and movie in Knoxville.  R had pulled a coupon for a free appetizer from Longhorn Steak House and we got the onion straws which were delicious.  I had their onion soup and a salad. R. had mussels.  I love their onion soup!  After that we saw Catching Fire which we also loved.  We are both in love with Jennifer Lawrence and can't wait to see American Hustle..maybe this week sometime.  Today just doing some cleaning up and putting away around here....later....

Snow and Very Cold!

We just had a dusting of snow, but I had to take R. to the lab to get lab work done for his Drs. appointment on Monday.  The roads in our neighborhood were snow-covered and we have snow on sidewalks and yards, but as soon as I got about 2 miles away toward Maryville there was nothing..not even a dusting.  We stopped at Mcdonalds after the lab work and then to Walmart.  I started to undecorated the tree this morning and had it mostly done when R. got up.  We finished when we got home and tree is put away for another year.  The outside stuff will be taken in tomorrow or Sunday when it is warmer.  I mostly have my great room back together but still need to vacuum. Too cold to go out and bring in wood so will burn a fire log tonight....later....

Happy New Year!!

And may this year be better than last year!  2013 was not a good year for us and we're glad it is over.  As usual we stayed up until midnight, unlike my lame children, I'm sure.  We had a great fire and watched the ball drop as we drank our prosecco.  Plans for today..hang out and have the traditional pork and sauerkraut for dinner.  I think we'll go to town and see a movie tomorrow and Friday will be a day of undecorating.  I will post some pictures from Christmas now that we have them on the computer....
