A Sick President

...And I mean mentally sick. After calling Him Cook TimApple he first said he actually called him Tim Cook Apple but said the Cook was said quickly and later he sent a long tweet about this! I'm sure many people have made a mistaken slip and just laughs and let's it go. Only a sickle would find it necessary to make a big deal if a minor slip! While I'm on to the pres, he wanted to name his personal pilot for his Trump plane the head of the FAA! That was mixed and we now have an interim head of the FAA!.....Moving on..Yesterday we went to Sam's and then lunch at Olive garden. It's always fun to see new things at Sam's. Today I have a follow up dentist appointment and tomorrow it's Whisker's turn at the doctors for her yearly appointment. Last year she had a reaction to get shots and I had to take her back...Hoping no bad reaction this year!.....later

Getting Used to Time Change

No problem in the morning but seems odd to be eating dinner when the sun is shining. I know it happens every year but still odd. ..Unexpected rain yesterday. After Richard's appointment yesterday we headed to Chili's for lunch and it was pouring! It kept it up until 5 when the sun came out. Warm today and we're heading to Knoxville and Sam's. Warm day in 60s with 70s tomorrow. If this keeps up it won't be long before grass will need cutting and I'll need to get my spring/summer clothes out!.....later

Heading to Spring

Warm weather, rains flowers and trees in bloom and getting greener. When I first came to Tennessee on my spring break to house hunt, I noticed how green the fields and yards were. Yesterday it was in the 70s and I opened both deck doors. Our kitty was SO happy! She went back and forth from one door to the other. She was in her tower until it got dark and was busy looking at birds and squirrels...Today Richard has an appointment so I'll drop him off and head to Walmart....Still warm today but not as warm as yesterday......later

This and That

A cold and rainy start to the weekend even some sleet this morning but tomorrow and Sunday much better. Richard has eye appointment this morning and I'll drop him off and head to the library. When he gets out of appointment we will get lunch. Seems like doctor appointments take up a major part of our lives. Next week I have my yearly eye appointment and a dentist appointment . I'm sure for my mammogram and Whiskers is due for her yearly! Ho Hum!!...I always look forward to the time change..light longer.....Hoping Maggie, Charlie and Eva have a great week in warm and sunny climes!😊.....katet

If you live in the north 25 is nothing to you but it's too cold for Tennessee! By Friday we'll be back in the 60s do I can't really complaincomplain but I need to go out today. I'll be taking my car with heated seats and steering wheel! I need to get a package off to Madison who has a real reason to complain about the cols. I think they just got a few feet of snow in upstate New York! ...Mardi Gras today in New Orleans..hope it's warm there. ..Our zoo reopens today. It was closed due to flooding. They had to use generators to keep animal barns safe and warm. So glad all animals were safe!!....later

The Weekend

We had one dry day...Saturday and I got some work done in the beds. Cut out lots of dead brush. Sunday...more rain and this morning is dry but cold. Happily watched the Vol s beat Kentucky! We have two games this week to end the regular season...Yesterday evening I made beef fried rice. I was excited when I found a bag of veggies for fried rice at Krogers. It saved buying separate veggies..but...too many carrot pieces and too large, lots of red cabbage which I never put in fried rice and too much broccoli. No Chinese veggies which I typically use. I won't be buying that again...Got tired of kitty waking me up around 4 with her meowing so closed out bedroom door Saturday night. She did go to the door meowing but have up and I went back to sleep. Last night..no meowing. I hate to keep her out but she has the rest of the house!!....later....

More Rain

March is in like a lamb. A bit of rain expected but not much. Tomorrow will be nice and I intend to get some pruning of some of my shrubs gone wild and clearing the beds by the house. We'll head to the gym after lunch and come home and watch some golf. The Vol s have a rematch with Kentucky tomorrow here at home..Go Vols!!! TGIF!.....later

Spring Tease

It happens every year. Yesterday we saw Bradford Pears in full bloom. Daffodils have been in bloom for over a week and the temperature reached 70! When we came home from appointment I opened both doors Nd that made Whiskers very happy. She was meowing as she had her nose next to screens. Today won't be quite as warm but nice until rain moves in...nothing like last week but still precipitation we don't need!! Next week winter returns😡😡....Vol s beat One Miss last night but too close for comfort!....Shower time....Later

Quiet Tuesday

It was a mostly sunny day yesterday and I got some things done around here and also had reading time. It was a warm afternoon and this afternoon will make it into the 60s! .....Anxious to hear what Cohen has to say today. I'll dvr  it because Richard has eye appointment and I'll drive him and get some errands done while he's there.......later

Improving Weather

Yesterday was bright and sunny but a bit chilly and got cold overnight. Pin the way to the gym we saw a few flooded yards but nothing else. Knoxville areas where we generally go is totally flooded with people getting to grocery store in a boat! My question is how many people have a boat hanging around to use in case of flooding?!?...Not much going on for me today..some chores around the house so may get some reading done..later

My Weekend

Saturday started out ok with the exception of rain which had been falling all week. I went down to the basement to get some things out of the freezer and happy that all was dry. I watched my cooking shows, are lunch while watching the Vols. All was good until Richard went to basement to get a washer to repair kitchen faucet. He called me to come down...lots of water in basement!😬 Fortunately we have a wet/dry vacuum so I used that and got a lot vacuumed up but not much else to do while rain continued. It did finally stop in late afternoon. Next tragedy but when Vol s lost😡. We settled down to watch golf and hope for the best. It rained more through the night. I was so surprised when I went down to check on damage and basement was completely fry!! Go figure!! Sunday was a beautifully sunny day. As it turned out February was the wettest month on record for our area. Knoxville is a mess with roads under water!! Maryville fared much better. A sunny week ahead😊😊.

Blah.......

It's raining, it's dark and watching Morning Joe is very depressing this morning.  Talking about the guy who was conspiring to kill Democrats and anyone opposing Trump with NO comments from Republicans or tweeter happy Trump!!.....Many school systems here closed due to flooding. There have been some mud slides in the area also. Reading Red Badge of Courage not helping my mood! .......Hoping the Vol s can pull it a win tomorrow with LSU!!!......later

This and That...

Heard the rain on and off during the night....rain expected for the next several days....In a bright note..daffodils are in bloom all over the place. Such a happy sight!...The internet Nicolle Wallace had with McCabe was the best I have seen!!...Jeopardy was a hoot last night with past winners and a different format. It will continue through next week.....later

My Weekday Morning

It starts around 4 or 5 depending when kitty meows me awake. She runs to the bathroom ahead of me. From there I start my coffee and head to the great room where she waits for me on her tower waiting for her morning treat. I turn on lights and tv and watch NBC or MSNBC. I play a few games on my tablet before having my first cup of coffee. I have 3 cups of coffee and wait for the sun to rise. Breakfast can be a smoothie, a waffle or an egg and toast. My shower and chores come next. Some mornings I head to the store as soon as it's daylight. I always look toward the mountains to see fog, or sometimes snow but always a lovely sight.  Today it's rainy and dark. I'll be making muffins soon before shower time.....later

Husband Requests

Last week Richard had 3 food requests! He wanted to go to lunch at a fish place..we did that. He also wanted Swiss steak and Swedeush meatballs. I looked up the recipe and it looked strange but not difficult. Ground beef and ground pork, nutmegnutmeg, allspice and a and p. You need a stand mixer and first mix in low all ingredients and then 10 minutes on high!! Oh yes a cup of water. After 10 minutes the meat has lost texture and looks pale and gooey. You then make meatballs using two spoons. I'm not kidding when I say I could have made 50 meatballs. After 25 I put the rest of the meat in a bag for the freezer. Sauteed the balls in butter and then to warm oven while I made the gravy.   Result...Richard loved them...me, not so much but he was happy and I'm happy because there are leftovers so easy dinner tonight...Pretty nice day today before the rains come for 6 days!😡

Valentine's Day

It's one of my favorite, fun days. I loved getting and taking Valentine's to school. My grandmother always sent my sister and me a card with a dollar in it. She just lived 5 minutes from us but getting mail was fun...Every Valentine's day my dad got my mother a box of Whitman's Sampler and a blouse. I loved getting my own kids Valentine's and a gift.  Richard always makes it fun and I know when I get up there will be something waiting for me by my chair!😊......This has been a crazy week with appointments Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday! I'm looking forward to doing nothing and going nowhere today!!!.......latet

Happy Valentine's Day!

My day started well when I woke up after 5 instead of 3 like yesterday. I started my coffee and then came to great room and saw my booty. I go tulips (my favorite), several kinds of candy, some undies and my card!! He never disappoints!!....Another win for the Vols!...On the negative side..cold weather returns and I have a dentist appointment.....later

Disappointing......

Every February Richard and I look forward to the Westminster dog show. It started yesterday but isn't on network tv and if only available streaming on Fox sports...really pissed!!....Richard's follow up appointment yesterday was only half successful. He did get his ECHO and then we waited to see Dr. And we waited and waited. Finally his nurse came out and told us he was stuck in surgery so we left without seeing him but she assured us that he would look at the ECHO and call....Today Richard has his appointment with regular doctor and tomorrow I have dentist appointment. What a week!!😡😡  later.....

Heavy Rainfall

The heaviest rain is expected just as we head to UT for Richard's follow-up appointment.....Yesterday Richard had ideas for dinners he wanted this week. So we headed to Kroger for ingredients and then to lunch for fish.....The weather, so far has been typical for our winter..lots of rain but little to no snow and moderate temperature. I'm not complaining but it is dreary and I'm ready for spring......latet

The Weekend

It was a ho  hum weekend. Richard couldn't sleep at night and then slept most of the days in his chair making it pretty boring. I did finish my latest Sara Paresky mystery and started another book. Yesterday was pretty drab and rainy with more of that this week. At least no snow in our forecast....Vol s still in first but they play Kentucky on Saturday...nervous for that one.....later

Hunt of Spring

It was 78 here and kitty was so happy because I opened both deck doors and she was in front of one of those doors all day with her nose in the screens. Today we're back to winter. The temperature is dropping quickly😢. ..Richard doing well. I was going to go to Wal-Mart today but he wants to go...he said he needs to get out...fine with me. I have plenty to do here....Looking forward to Vol s basketball tomorrow and golf at Pebble Beach all weekend!😊.....later

Richard is Home!

I picked him up at 5:45. It was raining with heavy traffic and darkness closing in. Neither of us drives in the dark because we can't see but I did fine. He was SO glad to be home and I am glad to have him home. This morning I'll get to the pharmacy to pick up his meds and then to Kroger s to pick up frozen fruit for our smoothies...Warm and windy today..76 predicted then big  drop tomorrow.......later

Hopeful

Hoping to get Richard home today. I woke up to rain this morning and hoping it stops before I have to leave. Yesterday he had fluid in lungs and got a shot of lasix and it worked immediately so hope that is taken care of.....Watched as much as I could stomach of Trump's speech last night but finally couldn't take any more and muted it. I wanted to hear the democrat's  assessment, but was sleepy and turned it off......later

Very Thankful

Yesterday Richard had a procedure to get his heart rate back to normal. Meds weren't working making this procedure necessary. First they would insert a camera down his throat to check for clots and thankfully, none were detected so then they could shock his heart with a needle and heart immediately returned to normal rate!!😊 He will now go on medication to keep the heart rate where it should be. I also had this problem in October but meds worked getting my heart back to normal and I take meds to keep it at normal rate. I'll bring him home today, hopefully.....Springtime weather here for a few days. A nice respite from the cold and a reminder spring is not far away....We will listen to Trump's speech tonight which I'm assuming it will be full of lies and hyperbole!.......later

Yesterday Sucked

Richard didn't sleep well Saturday and was having shortness of breath. We decided he needed to go to hospital. We got to UT ER about 1. He didn't get moved to a room until 8. It turns out it is more serious than we thought. He'll be getting an Echo today so we don't know the full diagnosis. I'll head down there later...I watched most of the game and it was boring and not happy that Patriots won again.....later

The Weekenf

Looking forward to a warmer weekend. Thankfully we had nothing like the Midwest suffered! We had a beautiful snow that didn't hurt traffic and made for great winter pictures. Yesterday we went to Knoxville puking up lots of things we needed at Sam's and had lunch at Olive Garden. Today we'll head to Lowe's to look for a new bird feederfeeder. Our squirrel  detergent one broke and hoping to replace it....Not really looking forward to Super Bowlbut will watch anyway.....Looking forward to a much warmer week!!.....later

Yesterday

Both of our appointments went well. With me all looked well with one exception...I'm vitamin B deficient and got a shot and can get a monthly shot or take pills. I'm opting for pills only because I don't want to have to go every month for a shot.....Richard's appointment went as expected.....It was very cold and the same for today.....BUT....50s, and 60s heading to hear 70 next week!!!That's good and bad. I'll love it but don't think plants will benefit. They'll be fooled into thinking it's spring and then get zapped when it turns back to winter😢...Loving the new bed and the deliciously snuggly fleece sheets!!......latet

Really Cold!!!

It's 8 here I know that doesn't seem that cold if you live in Minnesota but we are the south!! However, we'll get to 62 later this week. I wouldn't mind but I have a morning drs. appointment and Richard has one this afternoon.....Loving our new bed and the new sheets are fleece. I had flannel previously but fleece is even better!! I'm thinking I'll make chilli tonight..seems like the right thing for this weather......later

New Bed

All the parts came yesterday and with the help of Mr. Ciui  and the girls it got out together! We slept in it and one problem is that it is too high which means we'll have to take bedding and mattress off so we can adjust the legs. I slept great and Richard is still asleep....Raining now but a change to snow later so we'll stay in today. Tomorrow is the issue. We both have drs. Appointments tomorrow. We may reschedule depending on roads....later

Quiet Weekend

Our new bed hasn't come but we now have the sheets and hoping for bed coming in the next few days...Today I'll head to lab to get that taken care of for my Wednesday appointment which I may have to cancel if we get the predicted snow.  Richard also has appointment later on Wednesday. I'll also stop at Kroger s and the library....I couldn't get on Muirs blog this morning as it didn't come up so I could pull it up.....latet

TGIF

Looking forward to getting out new bed! Some of the new sheets came yesterday....Richard has eye appointment this morning but nothing I need to do....Every morning when I get up Whiskers is waiting for me. She comes into the bathroom with me and then runs to get tower where she waits for her treat. This morning no kitty. I called her..nothing! Finally I went down to basement/garage. As soon as I got to bottom of steps I heard her meow!!. She was locked in cold, dark basement all night!😢 I went down there about 6 last evening to get something and she obviously snuck in behind me.....poor baby!......I finished reading Becoming. It was really good and made me so sad to have to face the reality of our current president and his cronies in the white house.I think of the white house staff and how they loved the Obama's and who they are serving now...very depressing......later

Rainy Morning

I'll be heading to Wal-Mart as soon as it gets light. Sometime today parts of our new bed will arrive. Hopefully, it will be totally installed by the weekend....The girls will be here this afternoon and I hope the rain will be gone by then. Not much to do inside...I moved kitty's litter to downstairs which she adapted to right away☺.......later

Hump Day

Not sure what I'll be doing today...Walmar t maybe it Knoxville and Publix.....supposed to rain but normal January temps.....The new bed had been ordered along with bedding for it. Richard continues to sleep in his chair in the great room. Whiskers keeps him company but is in our bedroom in the morning waiting patiently for me to get up and give her her morning treat... Getting so, so sick of the shutdown!!! Trump is such a fool and a disgrace as a president!!!😡😡

Brrr!

Very cold but nothing like lots of the country!...Disgusted with outcome of both football games. The Ram who body slammed the Saint and wasn't penalized was beyond belief!! I really like the Chiefs and was so hopeful but Pats win again!😬.....Richard's back was very painful most of yesterday so he slept in his chair and is much better this morning.....I have dentist appointment this afternoon......later

What's Going On?

Usually out local NBC station is on at 4:30 but not today?!? It's basically local news and weather and I need to know the weather so I know what to wear! ......My worries about Madison driving to New York are over. She left early and is at Horsehead NY. I have never heard of it but will look it up. ......My plans today are haircut, Kroger and Subway for tonight's dinner.......later

It's Always Something!

Kitchen sink a problem and Richard is anti plumber. I need to run the dishwasher and can't use the sink! Maybe I'll just go to a movie and let R deal with it!!.....Rain coming later and cold and winter weather in the horizon....Still haven't gotten a haircut...Just can't believe the mess our country is in and pretty sure it will go from bad to worse with Trump in the Whitehouse!!😠.......latet

Dreary Monday

The sun stayed hidden all day with on and off rain. Laundry got done and done other chores but it was a good day for reading! I'm still reading The Book Thief...a great read! Since it's on my tablet I can't tell how long it is but where I'm reading it's 79% ....I have no grand plan for today but I need a haircut so may do that latet.....Starting to worry early for Madison's drive to upstate New York. Her job starts on the 23rd and her plan is to leave on the 20th. ....later

The Weekend

It was a lackluster weekend here. Saturday the girls came and got a lot of cleaning done. ......Good sports news and Vol s basketball brought another win! It was a close call but a win against Florida. Yesterday it was football and also Saturday. I was happy for a Chief's win and Saint's also. Patriots also won and while I like them, I'm tired of seeing them win!!! Dreary, January Monday!.....later

Improved

Richard did much better  yesterday! He took a pill at 2 am and another at 7 but none since then and didn't need the walker, just the cane. He was walking around more. I hope this continues....We had a fire last night since the cold returned and very cold this morning. Chili will be on the menu tonight and no plans for the weekend.  .......later

AGAIN😠😠

I was near the end of a very long post about yesterday spent at the Dr T Ut!! We got there at 10:30 and got out after 4. We stopped at pharmacy to get RX  and were told it would be ready in hour and half!! We went to drive-in and are and went back and picked up meds. We got home at5:50 and we were exhausted. I got Richard settled in his chair where he planned to sleep.He took meds and we watched tv. Finally after nine I decided to Go to bed but he thought he could make it there and he did and slept well. We'll see how today goes!!.....latet

Brrr!

Winter is back after 2 weeks of balmy weather.We'll head back t ok the gym after time off for the holidays. We would have gone back on Monday but Spectrum was scheduled to come to address ongoing ptoblems. We would lose the internet, phones and some tv. An agent was here for 2 hrs. and changed settings outside and all was good and then a repeat of problems twice yesterday but it self corrected. Who knows about today.....We haven't had a fire for over a week due to warm weather but for sure we'll have one tonight!....later

Bye Bye Christmas

So Friday and Saturday were busy taking down and storing Christmas decor. It's always nice to get my house back....Yesterday was a lazy day and I got a lot of reading done. Richard got me Becoming for Christmas and it is really good!! When I'm finished I'll pass it on.....Yesterday we started watching Springsteen 's Broadway show but will finish it later. Tonight we'll be watching football and hoping for a Clemson win but not sure they can pull it off😡........Time for me to get a move on....laundry underway and I'll be heading to Wal-Mart this morning......later

Damn!!!

I was nearly finished with a fairly long blog when it disappeared so the shortened version now.  Very rainy so will mix a movie in Knoxville. Tomorrow will be bye bye Christmas at our house. Did some things yesterday and will do some more today. A warm and sunny weekend promised😀 but I fear the cold weather will appear soon!😡......later

Rainy Thursday

I guess it rained most of the night but I heard nothing. Nothing going on today but I'll start taking down more of Christmas. I'm ready to have my house back! I also need to wash the bed sheets and such. This warm weather makes me think that when it ends we'll be in for ice and snow😬.....Madison will be driving to upstate New York later this month and I'm already anxious about that! I'm hoping she'll love the finger lakes and her internship!...My kitty just curled up next to me on my chair which means I can't get up for a coffee refill!......later

Chargers

My tablet is 57% so decided to blog early. Yesterday it got up to 83% but down overnighy. I ordered a new charger yesterday and it will be here Friday. It has been so warm..60 yesterday but 74 on Monday!...The New year's meal was delicious and plenty leftover so dinner taken care of tonight.  Started reading Becoming yesterday but The Book Thief not yet finished. It's on my Kindle so don't want to finish it until I get my new charger. It is a great read!!!....Starting to take Christmas down a bit but major take down will be Saturday......later

Happy 2019!!

Slept past7:00 but got to bed about 15 past midnight. Plans today...watch the parade and football, make the traditional pork, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes ala Julia Child! .....later
